FriendlySeats for Ubuntu Linux Print E-mail

In addition to the most popular version of FriendlySeats for Microsoft Windows, we also provide a separate implementation of multi-user system for Ubuntu Linux. If you are using Ubuntu Linux at home or at work and want to organize a multi-user system for simultaneous and independent operation of up to 8 users, FriendlySeats for Ubuntu Linux is what you want. You can get all the benefits of multi-user configuration, plus significant savings on licenses by the use of free software.

FsUbun2 program is a multi-terminal (multi-user, multi-seat) extension working as the native application for Linux. This solution allows to automatically install up to 8 workstations from just a single PC.

Hardware requirements:

  • CPU with the clock frequency not less than 1.0 GHz
  • RAM size not less than 512 Megabytes
  • Hard disk with the volume not less than 120 Gigabytes
  • Additional input devices for each seat. This means that you need 1 keyboard and 1 mouse per workstation. It is possible to connect PS/2, USB, Bluetooth mice and keyboards.
  • 1 monitor per workstation.
  • 1 video output per workstation. Most of the modern video cards have two or video outputs, which allows to connect at least two monitors to a single PC. You can also install additional videocards if such installation is supported by the motherboard.
  • Additional PCI-Express slots for additional VGA cards on the motherboard.

Software requirements:

  • Ubuntu Linux 8.04 operating system for x86 or x64 architectures.
  • Proprietary video drivers installed and correctly configured.

Things you need to check before you install:

  • Proprietary drivers are installed and are working correctly.
  • No keyboard or mouse button is pressed, and all mice are immobilized (it is better to turn all the mice except first, upside-down while you configure the multiseat system).
  • QT4 package is installed. You can download this package from repositories: sudo apt-get install libqt4-core libqt4-gui
