1. Please, connect to the base unit an additional monitors, keyboards and mice. To connect additional mouse and keyboard use the USB-ports. If you don’t have an USB-mouse and keyboard, you can use the adapters USB <-> PS/2 to connect a conventional PS/2 mouse and keyboard to the USB-ports.

2. Start Friendly Seats. You will be prompted for a password (Fig. 4.1). When you first start the Friendly Seats a password is not specified, so this window will not appear.

After entering the correct password the main window of Friendly Seats will appear (Fig. 3.1).

 

3. Determination of correspondence mice and keyboards in the list of "Components" to the real mice and keyboards. For this purpose (the order is not important) move all mice and press buttons on all keyboards. See the highlighted items in the list of "Components" (Fig. 4.2). If the item is highlighted by red color, it means that was detected the activity of the corresponding mouse or keyboard.

4. Binding monitors, keyboards and mice to seats. To bind the periferal device to the seat simply drag the appropriate element from the "Components" list to the corresponded seat in the "Seats" list (Fig. 4.3).

Note. You can also use the buttons (see Fig. 4.4) instead of dragging. Select an element from the "Components" list and select the desired seat in "Seats" list, to which you want to bind this element, and click the button that points to "Seats" list. Unbinding is similar to binding, but you need click the button that points to "Components" list.

5. Adjust the settings of components and seats. Mode of mouse cursor can be configured in the "Monitors" tab (Fig. 3.2). Activate and configure the automatic logon you can in the "Autologin" tab (Fig. 3.3). Activate and configure the function of network address separation you can in the "Network" tab (Fig. 3.4). See "Application interface" for details on these tabs.

6. Setup of password protection. You can password-protect the program Friendly Seats and set a password on the forced shutdown of your computer in Administrator mode (see below).

7. Activate and configure multi-user extension. Enabling of multi-user extension is possible in two ways: 1) selecting item "Run at Windows startup" from the popup menu (Fig. 4.6), 2) selecting appropriate options in the "Multi-user extension" block of the "General Settings" window (Fig. 3.7)

8. Save settings and exit Friendly Seats. When all settings are made you need to save it. You can do this by clicking the button "Save and Exit" (Fig. 4.5).

9. Restart the computer. In cases when you have made the settings that need to restart your computer to take effect, when clicking on the button "Save and Exit" you will see the message window with proposition of reboot. You will be asked to restart your computer immediately, or manually at a time that convenient for you.

 

If the Friendly Seats configuration program was previously executed and a multi-user extension is enabled but not started with Windows (Fig. 3.7), you can start it manually by clicking the Start button and selecting item "Start now" from the popup menu (Fig. 4.6).

Administrator Mode. If multi-user extension is enabled you will see special dialogue over the Windows Winlogon dialogue. You can see Windows Winlogon dialogue every time before user logon to system and after user exits the system. This special dialogue displayed by Friendly Seats and it is shown below (Fig. 4.7 a, b).

The appearance of this window depends on whether the password for forced shutdown is specified or not.

If password for forced shutdown is not specified, the password field and a button "Administrator Mode" does not appear. Instead you'll see a warning that states that there are currently not all users have completed their work at other seats. Turning off the computer at this moment will rudely interrupt the work of other users.

If a password for forced shutdown is specified, in order to shutdown your computer, you must first enter the password, click "Administrator Mode" and then click button "Turn Off Computer" of Windows Winlogon dialogue.

Application interface http://friendlyseats.com/en/interfaceoffs http://friendlyseats.com/en/interfaceoffs Friendly Seats has a simple interface consisting of a main window and the general settings window. Main window (see Fig. 3.1) displays a list of detected input and output devices as well as a list of seats to which they can be connected.

The main window consists of three information blocks:

  • components;
  • seats;
  • parameters.

In the block "Components" a list of detected input and output devices is displayed. This "Components" will be used to create new seats. Peripherals are sorted by functional groups: monitor, keyboard and mouse.

Block "Seats" displays the periphery, already connected to the seats. Peripherals are sorted by seats.

Block "Parameters" contains three tabs: Monitors, Autologin, Network.

"Monitors" tab (Fig. 3.2) can setup the mouse mode for each monitor. There are two modes of mouse: software and hardware (default). Enabling of software mode is recommended when there is a problem when working in hardware mode.

On the "Autologon" tab (Fig. 3.3) you can configure and activate automatic logon to operating system for users on each seat. Using this feature allows you to simplify the process of loading the operating system at all or a selected seats. To configure the autologin you need to specify login, password (required only when working in the domain) and domain name to be used for automatic logon at selected seat.

Note. Fields "Password" and "domain" are required only in case of automatic logon using a domain account.

Attention. The text entered in the field "Password", will be saved in the Windows registry in clear form and will be readable by users with administrative rights.

The administrator can open the system applet "User Accounts" by clicking on the link "Manage users...".

On the "Network" tab (Fig. 3.4) you can activate and configure the Network addresses separation function for every seat. To configure this function you need to specify the network address for each seat.

Note. Network addresses specified for the seat must also be specified in the Network settings dialogue of the Windows XP operating system «Additional TCP/IP properties» (Fig. 3.5). This dialogue can be opened by clicking the button "Advanced..." in the window «Properties: Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)» of the current network connection.

The administrator can open the system applet "Network Connections" by clicking the link "Open network setup dialog..."

Window "General Settings" (Fig. 3.7) is opened by clicking the button "Settings..." (Fig. 3.6) in the main window. The window consists of three information units:

  • Password protection;
  • Multi-user extension;
  • Program registration.

Block "Password protection" allows you to set a passwords for:

  • starting configuration program of Friendly Setas;
  • the forced shutdown.

Password for the forced shutdown will be prompted when you try to enable administrator mode in the Winlogon dialog of Windows XP (for details, see the section "Using the program").

In the block "Multi-user extension" you can activated or deactivated multi-user extension and autostart of the seats on load of operating system.

Note. You need to reboot your computer after changing setting of the activation or deactivation of "multi-user extension".

The block "Program registration" provides information about the license for the Friendly Seats program. If the program is unregistered, or in demo mode (Fig. 3.8), this block will contain hardware code that valid for current computer. You need to transfer this hardware code to seller when purchasing the program.

By clicking on the button "Order Now!" you can place an order for the purchasing a program at the manufacturer's web site. The hardware code will be automatically entered into the appropriate field of the purchasing form.

Installation http://friendlyseats.com/en/setupdescription http://friendlyseats.com/en/setupdescription Below is a description of installing Friendly Seats to the computer.

Before installation, check whether your computer meets the minimum system requirements.

1. To run installer of Friendly Seats, please, execute «Setup FS.exe» file (Fig. 2.1).

2. Installer will help you to install the program. On the first step, you must select the installation language (Fig. 2.2).

3. At the first step of the installation is proposed to close all open windows and other installers (Fig. 2.3).

4. Close all open programs and installers, and click "Next" to go to the next step.

5. On this step, the installation checks whether the Friendly Seats is running now. If the Friendly Seats is already running you will be asked to close it, and then continue the installation (Fig. 2.4).

6. After clicking "Next" installer will search previously installed versions of the Friendly Seats, and if it will found, you will be prompted (see Fig. 2.5) for its removal prior to installing the new version. You should click the button "Yes".

 

Note. If the installer was executed on a computer, which works in multiplayer extention mode, you will be prompted to restart your computer after removing the previous version of the Friendly Seats.

 

7. On the next step of the installation you will be asked to select the installation folder for the program (Fig. 2.6).

8. It is recommended to install the program in the proposed location (C:\Program Files\Friendly Seats). You can change the installation folder manualy from keyboard or select it on the disk by clicking "Browse". When an installation folder was specified, you can proceed to the next step. To do this, click "Next".

9. On this step, you select the installation folder in the Start menu, for a shortcut to the program (Fig. 2.7). It is recommended to leave the proposed variant («Friendly Seats»).

10. To begin the process of copying files, click "Install".

11. An installation process is displayed on the next step (Fig. 2.8). For a detailed view of the installation process click on "Details".

12. After completion of the installation process, click "Next" to go to the final step of installation.

13. At the final step of the installation is proposed to run the newly installed program after exiting the installer (see Fig. 2.9).

14. Click "Finish" to exit the installer.

 

Run the installed program by using the Start menu shortcut through the Start -> All Programs -> Friendly Seats -> Friendly Seats (Fig. 2.10).

The program can be started via a shortcut on your desktop (Fig. 2.11).

Uninstalling of the program. In order to remove the program from your computer, follow these steps:

Run the uninstaller from the Start menu by selecting the shortcut "Start -> All Programs -> Friendly Seats -> Uninstall » (Fig. 2.10), or via an applet Add/Remove Programs in Control Panel (Fig. 2.12).

2. After running the uninstall program you will be prompted to confirm deletion of the program from a specified folder (Fig. 2.13).

3. Confirm your intention to remove the program by clicking Uninstall.

4. After completion of the removal process you can view the results (Fig. 2.14) by clicking the button "Details" and close the uninstaller by clicking "Close". Now Friendly Seats removed from your computer.

5. It should be noted that uninstaller will remove program files, shortcuts in the Start menu and Desktop, as well as program settings. License file is not removed from the installation folder.
